How Online Tutoring Works

I use state of the art technology in live tutoring sessions so that our sessions are just as effective as if we were sitting together in person.

Here are the requirements for online tutoring:

• Computer with a high-speed internet connection
• Microphone and speakers or a headset (most laptops have built-in microphones and speakers)
• If you don’t have a microphone, I can call your phone

I use Cisco Webex conferencing technology to establish a connection with you. You don’t need to install anything on your computer except a small applet that loads automatically during your first session.

Here are some of the things that we can do with Webex:

I write on the screen of my tablet computer, which will appear on your screen instantly.

You can give me control of your computer, which will allow me to help you complete online quizzes that require you to login to WebCT, Blackboard or other online sites.

To get a head start, you can load the Webex client now, to test if your computer is compatible (most modern computers are).
